REVERB Youth Movement of St. Paul's
A multitude of voices so concentrated that one becomes a movement.
Our Vision and Hope
Students in grades 7 through 12 are not just the future of the church, as is commonly said, they are the church today! They gather looking for encouragement, enjoyment, relevance and an authentic, trustworthy set of experiences. Our program is about connecting with one another and with God in a safe and thoughtful atmosphere. We also like to challenge our students to grow in their understanding of God, and their own spiritual journey with the living Christ. No single thing does the trick. But learning to pray, serve, share, study and gather together with other Christians are all part of the wonderful mix that is Student Ministries at St. Paul’s.
Our Youth Space
Most of our meetings take place in our newly expanded Youth Space on the lower level of St. Paul’s, next to the Gymnasium on the West Side of the church, near Kenilworth. This space has lots of comfortable seating, game tables, a café, a lounge and a large meeting room with a stage to accommodate small bands, poets and other entertainers. We have an outside entrance with a horseshoe drive for easy drop off and pick up.
During the School Season (September through early June)
REVERB
Youth gathering at St. Paul’s on Thursdays from 6-8pm in the Youth Space.
Come and relax, snack around and enjoy informal fellowship as we dig deeper into Christian life. In the New Year we will begin to explore two new programs by nationally-recognized speaker and youth oriented Pastor Francis Chan. The first series is called Surrender and the next is Courage. Both are great Bluefish TV video series designed to provoke hard hitting questions and soul searching discussions.
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12
Youth Forum
Sunday Mornings from 10:10 a.m. – 10:50 a.m.
January 8-February 12: Meet the Master.
The New Year begins with a look at people who crossed, for a variety of reasons, Jesus’ path. We will examine their motives and put ourselves in their place to discover how they must have felt. How are we like them? What would we feel in the same situation? What did they learn and what can we learn? Who is this One they call the Christ?
February 19- March 25: Once there was this guy…
What is a parable? Why did Jesus use this way of teaching? Who does the “cast” in these mini-dramas represent? We continue our journey with Christ looking at some of His parables and how we can see ourselves in relation to the characters. We will delve into historical references and metaphors that He used and try to empathize with different perspectives and people involved in the stories.
April 15- May 20: Friends & Family; Community Network
Like in the Verizon and Sprint commercials, a small army of followers surrounded Christ on a daily basis. Join us for a look at those people closest to Jesus and His ministry and whose lives were changed forever by following His footsteps. Who were they and how are we, in the midst of our fast-paced lives, just like them? Is God calling us into fellowship with Him even as we are discovering who we really are?
In the Summer
Mission Trips
Our mission trips provide opportunities for love to show itself in action. Each summer our students serve in local and world missions. Whether we are serving lunch at Haven of Rest in Akron or at an urban mission in Brooklyn, New York, the site of our 2010 Summer Mission, or building schools in Haiti, our aim is to show the world something of the love of Christ.
