Rev. Dr. George L. Murphy, Pastoral Associate

George Murphy is a pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America now serving as a pastoral associate at St. Paul's. (He was previously pastor of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Tallmadge, Ohio.)

The emphasis of his work in the congregation is on adult theological education. He received a Ph.D. in physics from Johns Hopkins and taught in colleges for several years before studying for the ministry, and is now an adjunct faculty member at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, where he teaches a course on theology and science.

Dr. Murphy has published a number of articles and five books in this area. He has been especially concerned to make results of the science-theology dialogue useful for clergy and congregations and writes the "Handiwork" column for this purpose for Lutheran Partners.
