What you will be doing with YouthWorks:
Our goal (Youthworks) is to help meet
the needs of the residents of this community by leading our own ministry projects, as well as by providing support and volunteers
to already existing social service organizations. Participants will run a Kids Club and will have the opportunity
to work with Outrageous Sports Camp.
Kids Club is a hands-on afternoon program led by your youth, offering
high-energy games, crafts, skits, songs and interactive lessons all designed to
help kids learn about Jesus. Outrageous Sports
Camp is a new ministry with YouthWorks designed as an
outreach to you ages 10 - 14. Your group will engage community youth in
fun, active sports programming to help them develop athletic skills and help
them learn basic life skills. Groups
will also work alongside numerous social service organizations to support
children ministries, the elderly and the homeless. At the beginning of the
ministry week, once on site, Adult Leaders will work with the Site Director to
separate their participants into work crews. Your group will be mixed with the
youth from other groups for their week of service. Due to multiple church
groups and varying needs of the ministries we partner with, we cannot confirm
until all groups arrive on site exactly what service your youth will be
involved with. We ask that you come to serve with a willing and flexible
spirit.
Deidre’s notes:
If you enjoy
sports and working with teens: this is your site. Note, however, there is NO guarantee that you
will be assigned to the sports’ camp.
Youth will have to be flexible to work where assigned.
You must have completed 8th grade to be
considered for this site.
The cost of this
trip is $325. Some scholarship money
will be available.
Registration forms must be in and the $50
deposit must be paid by April 29th. As
space is limited, consideration is given to those who are registered first.
